Starting June 22, 2026, all first aid training programs in Ontario, including Lifesaver 101, will begin teaching updated curriculum standards.
The WSIB will continue to oversee First Aid Training in Ontario, while the updated program aligns workplace first aid training with the new national Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z1210:24 standards for curriculum and quality management.
As part of these updates, some course and certificate names will change:
- Emergency First Aid will now be called Basic First Aid
- Standard First Aid will now be called Intermediate First Aid
Participants will still be able to recertify their Intermediate First Aid certification one time. Under the updated program, recertification can be completed through any WSIB-approved training provider.
