  1. CALENDAR ACRONYMS
Question: What do C Level CPR Recert, EFA and SFA stand for?
Answer: C Level CPR Recert represents a 3-hour program equivalent to a Basic Rescuer recertification. On our Calendar, the acronym EFA stands for Emergency First Aid and CPR, and SFA stands for Standard First Aid and CPR.

  2. CERTIFICATE UPGRADE
Question: Can I upgrade my First Aid and CPR certificate? For example, I took a one-day Emergency First Aid and CPR program and would like to know if I can upgrade the one-day course to a two-day Standard First Aid and CPR program.
Answer: Yes, of course you can upgrade from a one-day EFA to a two-day SFA program. There is only one stipulation: you must upgrade within 30 days of taking the one-day course.

  3. CERTIFICATION
Question: If I pass my Lifesaver 101 program, will my certificate be recognized?
Answer: Yes, all programs currently offered by Lifesaver 101 adhere to the established guidelines of The Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) and The Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSFO). Lifesaver 101 is included in a list of Recognized First Aid Trainers at the following web address: http://www.wsib.on.ca/wsib/wsibsite.nsf/public/FATrainers.

  4. COSTS
Question: How much do the different programs cost?
Answer: Lifesaver 101 offers a variety of programs; for more details, click on the PROGRAMS link in the Navigation column on the right. The duration and cost for individual programs varies and we do offer discounts for group bookings. Please call our office at 416-538-5900 and we will help you determine which of our affordable programs best suits your needs. Once we have determined which program best suits your needs, we will quote you a very competitive price.

  5. COURSE SELECTION
Question: How do I know which course is best for me?
Answer: Whether you are taking a First Aid/CPR training course out of personal interest, as part of an educational program, or as a prerequisite for employment training, Lifesaver 101 will help you select an appropriate program. Firefighters, fitness trainers, nurses, paramedics, PSWs (Personal Support Workers), Security Guards, and other professionals can acquire First Aid and CPR Training certification through a recognized First Aid Training provider – Lifesaver 101 First Aid & CPR Training Inc. Call us today at 416-538-5900 and let us help you learn to help others – it’s about time!

  6. FACILITIES
Question: What are your training facilities like?
Answer: Lifesaver 101’s training facilities are carpeted, clean and spacious. Our second floor offices are well lit both by energy-efficient overhead lighting and bright natural light. In general, we keep our offices comfortably warm in the winter, refreshingly cool in the summer, and as required in the fall and spring. En suite washrooms and ergonomic design are also provided for your convenience and comfort. Our training equipment is clean, modern and well maintained.

  7. LATENESS
Question: What happens if I am late?
Answer: All Lifesaver 101 course content has been created and structured with a view to meeting the learning objectives stipulated by our governing bodies. If you are late, you will miss important and required information and, consequently, we will not be able to issue you a certificate. As well, and in fairness to Lifesaver 101 personnel and those participants who arrive on time, your punctuality is essential in order to avoid the unnecessary interruptions directly resulting from any such tardiness. We recommend that you acquire directions to our training center and familiarize yourself with transportation details (i.e., subway, parking, travel time) prior to the day of your course; doing so will help you arrive on time. Please observe your exact course starting time and strive to arrive ten to fifteen minutes in advance to allow sufficient time for registration. The doors to our training center will be locked once the program is in session and you will then have to re-book at your expense.

  8. LEVELS OF CPR
Question: What is the difference between A Level, B Level & C Level CPR? Which one is better?
Answer: A Level CPR includes CPR techniques for ADULTS only; B Level CPR is for ADULTS and CHILDREN, and C Level CPR covers ADULTS, CHILDREN and INFANTS. Therefore, C Level CPR is the most comprehensive of the three designated levels.

  9. LIABILITY
Question: What happens if the Lifesaver 101 instructor is late or the course has to be cancelled?
Answer: Lifesaver 101 will not incur any expenses or suffer any liability as a result of last-minute program cancellations due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e., power failures, instructor absence because of an accident, program cancellations due to shortage of participants as a result of inclement weather, etc.). Lifesaver 101 conducts business honorably and will do everything possible to uphold the integrity of our reputable establishment.

  10. LOCATION
Question: Where are your offices located?
Answer: The Lifesaver 101 head office is situated one block west of the Kipling TTC/Go Station, across from the Canadian Tire on the North side of Dundas St. Click on CONTACT US in the Navigation column on the right to display contact information and to see a detailed map.

  11. LUNCHES
Question: Can I eat my lunch at Lifesaver 101? If not, is there somewhere nearby where I can grab a bite?
Answer: Lifesaver 101 does not provide a lunch room and prefers that no food be eaten at our premises so that we can keep the facilities as clean as possible for the benefit and pleasure of all participants and visitors. We empty the facility and close our doors for the lunch period (approximately 45 minutes). There is a multitude of affordable eating establishments in the immediate area.

  12. PARKING
Question: If I drive, is there nearby parking available?
Answer: We do have on site parking. However, we do suggest the Better Way (TTC), as we are only steps away from the Kipling Subway/Go-Train Station.

  13. PAYMENT
Question: How do I pay for my course?
Answer: For Tuesday evening walk-in clinics, participants can register and pay upon arrival. For all other programs, advance payment is required to secure a reservation. Please remember that seating is limited, so call as soon as possible to reserve. Payment by MasterCard, VISA or cash is accepted. If you are paying with cash, we request that you submit payment in person at our head office at 5324 Dundas Street West Ste. #5. Sorry, we do not accept payment by personal cheque or American Express. (Note: Organizations submitting payment for groups may pay by cheque.)

  14. PROGRAMS
Question: Do you have a Basic Rescuer “C” Level CPR Program?
Answer: Yes we do. This program is available on Day 1 of any 2-day SFA & CPR program. For all SFA & CPR programs, Day 1 will encompass the CPR portion of the program, and Day 2 will cover the Standard First Aid portion of the program.

  15. READING
Question: Is there a lot of reading to be done in a Lifesaver 101 class?
Answer: Yes, and no. Yes, Lifesaver 101’s very capable instructors are trained to ‘read’ the participants to best determine an appropriate method of communicating our quality content. And no, as a student you are not required to manually record a lot of information over the course of any program.

  16. REFUNDS
Question: If I pay in advance to reserve a seat, what happens if I am too sick on the day of the program to come in, or if I can’t make it because of an emergency? Do I get a refund?
Answer: Lifesaver 101 acknowledges that there are times when absenteeism is unavoidable (i.e., due to personal injury, illness, or death of a family member or close friend). We ask that all participants come prepared to enjoy our interactive programs and we strongly encourage punctuality. If you cannot attend, we require a courtesy telephone call no less than one week (7 days) in advance of your scheduled course. If you reserve a seat we trust that you will honor your commitment as you will be taking that spot away from someone else who might otherwise have attended. Individuals who cancel late or do not show up at all will automatically forfeit their registration fee. Lifesaver 101 First Aid & CPR Training Inc. does not give refunds.

  17. TESTING
Question: Do I have to pass a difficult test?
Answer: No, it’s not difficult. Lifesaver 101 aims to communicate to all participants relevant program information in such a manner that regular and prompt attendance combined with skills development through active participation practically assures a pass. If a participant struggles due to language or physical challenges, the instructor will identify this challenge and work closely with the participant to maximize the participants understanding of the program content. Communication of mandatory information is coupled with tailored course content to meet the specific requirements of individuals and groups. Developing your personal confidence and the ability to successfully apply your newfound skills are two of our primary teaching objectives.

  18. The WSIB recognizes both our Standard First Aid & CPR and Emergency First Aid & CPR programs as per outlined in our agendas and timelines. Our Basic First Aid and Child Care First Aid and CPR training programs will recertify your CPR skills as recommended annually but the first aid component is only a workshop and therefore does not fullfill the WSIB requirements as indicated under regulation 1101.
